Community open day at Aberystwyth Crematorium
Aberystwyth Cemetery & Crematorium is looking forward to welcoming visitors to a community open day on Saturday 5 July.
An invitation is open to anyone to visit between 10am and 2pm, when they will be able to tour the beautiful memorial gardens and the crematorium’s comfortable chapel.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to take a tour of the crematory, if they wish, and have the chance to meet the crematorium’s friendly and supportive team as well as other industry professionals who help to bring funeral services together.
Aberystwyth Cemetery & Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 41 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
It has been serving the communities of mid and west Wales since 1994.
Manager Rachel Harrison said: “Those who attend our community open day will be able to find out first-hand about the exceptional care with which we serve the community and their loved ones.
“Visitors will be able to learn about the range of farewell services we offer, the technology we use and how we can make every funeral uniquely personal.
“They will also be able to discover how we can support the bereaved in helping them to remember their loved ones, through a wide range of memorialisation options.”
Those who attend the open day can also place a card or message to loved ones in the crematorium’s memorial post box, as well as spend some quiet time in the landscaped grounds for reflection and remembrance.
Rachel added: “We will also be able to tell visitors about the work we do in the local community and the many local charities and organisations we support.
“Not many people would think of visiting a cemetery and crematorium unless they were attending a funeral, but our open day presents a chance to explore our site and learn all about what we have here.
“The crematorium includes many characteristic local elements, with stones from historic buildings in the town and a design that respects Welsh traditions. The chapel was designed to have the look of a small country house.
“Visitors will also be able to discover our valley cemetery, which overlooks the breathtaking Cynfelyn Valley, with sweeping views of the surrounding fields, woods and the distant sea.
“I think people will be surprised at just how warm and welcoming our site is, but don’t take my word for it; we would love as many people as possible to find out for themselves by visiting us on 5 July.”
